MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Hi, I’m Russell Lorfing. I am a multi-award-winning trial lawyer, a former federal prosecutor, and the managing partner at the Keith & Lorfing law firm, where I practice personal injury and criminal defense in West Texas. I have handled thousands of cases and tried hundreds of jury trials. Before entering private practice, I served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Lubbock, led a human-trafficking task force in Saipan, and clerked for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. I have been recognized nationally for my work in white-collar crime and cyber investigations and was designated as a Cyber Hacking and Intellectual Property Prosecutor, earning recognition as a DOJ expert on electronic evidence. I have received numerous honors, including Super Lawyers, Best Trial Lawyer, and leadership roles within the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Outside the courtroom, I am the founder of Freedom Fighters, an online leadership course, and the author of This Too Shall Pass, a devotional written for incarcerated men.
Below is my team that is ready to give you the tools so you can stand up for yourself and fight.
BRANDI YOUNG
Brandi Young is a former state and federal prosecutor, seasoned trial attorney, and partner at Keith & Lorfing, where she manages the Midland office and oversees all cases across the Permian Basin. A former Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Western District of Texas, Mrs. Young prosecuted and supervised high-profile federal cases involving narcotics, firearms, violent crime, white-collar fraud, public corruption, immigration, and crimes against children, often working alongside agencies such as the FBI, DEA, DOJ, SEC, and DHS.
Her practice now focuses on high-stakes criminal defense, complex government and internal investigations, and serious personal injury matters pursued by state and federal authorities. Having handled thousands of cases and tried more than a hundred jury trials, Mrs. Young delivers clients—from major corporations to hard-working West Texans—a direct, no-nonsense assessment grounded in deep experience on both sides of the courtroom.
DAVID SLOAN
David Sloan is a seasoned litigator, former state and federal public defender, and partner at Keith & Lorfing, where he manages the firm’s Lubbock office and oversees all regional cases. With more than three decades of courtroom experience, David has defended thousands of clients across West Texas in complex state and federal criminal matters, earning a reputation as the go-to attorney for federal child exploitation cases. Before joining the firm, he served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender, a state public defender in Wisconsin, and a Texas prosecutor—rising from misdemeanor cases to lead counsel on murder trials in under three years.
David is also a highly respected appellate advocate, with victories in the Seventh Circuit, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and a pivotal role in a U.S. Supreme Court case. In addition to criminal defense, he leads personal injury litigation in the Lubbock area, proudly fighting for hardworking clients and delivering results with the same intensity and precision he brings to every courtroom.
CHRISTOPHER SOLIS
Christopher Solis is a Texas criminal defense attorney with nearly two decades of public service and extensive experience in state and federal criminal law. He later continued his service in the Marine Corps Reserve.
After earning his law degree through the G.I. Bill, Christopher entered public service as a prosecutor in the State of New Mexico, where he handled cases ranging from DWI offenses to property crimes and violent felonies. In 2018, he joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico, where he prosecuted federal cases involving narcotics and firearms, with additional experience in white-collar matters.
Through his work on both sides of the courtroom, Christopher developed a deep understanding of criminal procedure, sentencing, and the real-world consequences defendants face.
